Select the type(s) of eLearning you are interested in

Web Book or Web Lecture
Interactive
Multimedia Rich
Adaptive or Empathic

Web book or Web lecture – Over 90% of existing "eLearning" content is made up of these digital page turners. A Web book or Web lecture is useful for informational presentations but does not tend to inspire learning and on average has a drop out rate of 40-50% according to University of Wisconsin Learning Innovations.

Interactive –Interactivity helps make a course more engaging for users, allowing them to reflect on the instructional material and practice applying the new knowledge. Interactive courses offer feedback to guide each user, and evaluations that can be scored and tracked. While students definitely tend to retain more of the information from an Interactive based course, it still falls short in getting and keeping them motivated to take the courses in the first place.

Multimedia Rich – Courseware that includes the use of a variety of media, such as animation, audio (music and narration), and video is considered “multimedia rich.” although the addition of these elements into a "page turner" does little more than clog network resources. Using these elements in an instructional and innovative manner allows them to attract, inspire, and capture the attention of the learner, while increasing their retention levels. The result, is more learners taking the and completing the content.

Adaptive or Empathic– This is the best model to use when you really need to motivate users to engage with the content. it allows learners to truly learn at their own pace and at their own rate. Meaning if the learner is already knowledgeable about certain subjects or objectives of the training material they can skim trough it or skip it entirely, while those that need or desire more detail, examples or assistance with the content can take a more leisurely and in-depth path through the content. This also goes a great way at keeping learners coming back for more. They are motivated to continue taking courses, because they know the courses are custom tailored to them, and they will not be weighted down with time consuming activities they have already mastered.
